Robert Eggleston, parlimentary candidate for Mid Sussex, spent a rewarding day in East Grinstead on Saturday meeting with residents and the local community. It was a great opportunity to talk about our Build a Brighter Future manifesto, address key issues and discuss how the Liberal Democrats can make a real difference in Mid Sussex. Mid Sussex District Council has launched a consultation on Site Allocations for additonal housing. This has a significant impact on Burgess Hill, and the Lib Dem Led Burgess Hill Town Council conducted a public meeting on Monday 13th October to enable residents to see the documents, ask questions, and find out how to respond to the consultation.
Nick is a local champion, with big ideas who can stand up for the people of Franklands Ward and ensure there is a strong and effective opposition on the town council.
Recognising the need to protect open spaces and tackle pollution, Nick Chapman, local Lib Dem Campaigner has put climate change issues at the heart of his by-election campaign. The latest Focus publication gives detail about Nick's priorities to campaign for more pedestrian and cycle friendly initiatives, as well as more energy efficient housing, improved access to domestic car charging points and making Haywards Heath a fair trade town.
Sam Gyimah, MP for East Surrey, was formerly the Minister for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation until he resigned in protest at Theresa May's Brexit withdrawal agreement. Sam subsequently voted against the Tory government in order to block a "no-deal Brexit" and had the whip withdrawn from him. On 14th September, Sam joined the Liberal Democrats during our party conference, accusing the prime minister of "veering towards populism and English nationalism".
