Conservative MP, Nicholas Soames, who gets £350,000 a year from his three outside jobs as well as his £65,000 as an MP has hit out at the new rules on expenses that will stop him claiming the mortgage and other expenses for his London home from the taxpayer. The new rules will mean that he can no longer claim for a second home in London and instead commute like other residents in our area. Mr Soames' comment was: "I hope people will be happy that I'll be significantly worse off."
With voters in Mid Sussex only weeks away from electing a new MP to represent our area it has become clear that the race will be between Serena Tierney's Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives. Well known bookmakers, Ladbrokes, have written off Labour's chances with odds of 100/1.

He received £350,000 for his other jobs - yet voters still pay the mortgage on his London home whilst he carries out these roles. The Daily Mail even reported recently that Mr Soames may be offered a position as French Ambassador if the Conservatives win the general election!
