No to Mandatory Digital ID Cards
Keir Starmer says everyone in the UK will be required to have mandatory digital ID.
That’s not the kind of country we want to be – one where people are forced to turn over their private data just to go about their daily lives.
People shouldn’t be turned into criminals just because they can’t have a digital ID, or choose not to. This will be especially worrying to millions of older people, people living in poverty and disabled people – who are more likely to be digitally excluded.
Liberal Democrat MP for Mid Sussex Alison Bennett said:
“Labour’s ID card scheme would trample over British values of privacy and liberty, while doing nothing to tackle the real challenges the country faces.
“It would also risk criminalising millions of people, especially older people and those on lower incomes simply because they can’t, or choose not to, use a digital ID card.
“The Liberal Democrats stopped Labour’s last attempt to impose ID cards. We will fight tooth and nail to stop this one too.”

No to digital ID cards
We, the undersigned, call on the Government to cancel its plans for mandatory digital ID.
