WLTM: a liberal minded crypto billionaire
WLTM: a liberal minded crypto billionaire
Mid Sussex based Liberal Democrat MP. Likes: evidence based policy, fierce internationalism and unapologetic social tolerance. Dislikes: misinformation, climate change scepticism and dog whistle politics. WLTM a liberal minded crypto billionaire, or similar, to inject significant capital into our constituency ground-game. GSOH optional, but a commitment to stopping Nigel Farage getting into Number 10 is essential. I'll provide the evidence-based policy, you bring the blockchain billions. Interested? Seriously though…
… the obscene donations that Reform received over the weekend should be of concern to everyone. It blows all other political parties’ financial fire power out of the water, and in an age of sophisticated digital marketing, it means that Reform will be able to reach their target voters in ways that aren’t obvious through diffuse hard to track digital marketing.
Here’s the thing: the Liberal Democrats do not need £72 million. I do not even need my own crypto billionaire (but if you are one, and you are reading this, do get in touch). What we need is steady income that pays for our office, our brilliant staff member, occasional ads on Facebook, and of course some leaflets. We’re talking tens of thousands, not tens of millions.
What money cannot buy is time, and the time that I spend on fundraising is time that I cannot spend supporting people who want my help, time that I cannot spend getting into the weeds of upcoming legislation in Parliament, and time that I cannot spend knocking on doors, understanding what the issues are that matter to the people who will vote in the next General Election.
If you think you can help:
- setting up a regular, modest payment to the Mid Sussex Lib Dems builds our reliable regular income, helping us to plan in the years leading up to the general election. Drop me an email to find out how to do this - info@midsussexlibdems.org.uk.
- whilst one off cash injections mean that we can fund particular leaflets, or buy the new printer that is currently on the wish list.
Waiting until the general election is called to make a donation is not as helpful as supporting us now.
We do not know whether Andy Burnham will go to the people early, or wait until 2029, but we do know that Nigel Farage now has the means to pay for staff in every constituency. We know that for him and his candidates, fundraising is one task that they can take off their ‘to do’ lists.
The US Democrats have a maxim: EMILY or ‘Early Money is Like Yeast’. Support the Liberal Democrats now, and we will be in a position to stop Reform, not just in Mid Sussex but across the country.
Make a donation here, or drop an email to info@midsussexlibdems.org.uk to explore all the ways that you can help.
Thank you
