Five gains

The local Liberal Democrats gained five new seats on West Sussex County Council:

Cuckfield and Lucastes Bar Chart

Cuckfield and Lucastes - Lauren Lloyd

Lauren Lloyd was elected to represent Cuckfield and Lucastes with 2335 votes, taking the division from the Conservative Party.

Haywards Heath East - Kirsten Sutton

Kirsten Sutton was elected to represent Haywards Heath East with 1750 votes. The division was formerly held by the Conservative Party.

Haywards Heath Town - Caroline Ward

In Haywards Heath Town Caroline Ward was elected with 1889 votes, gaining the division from the Conservative Party.

Hurstpierpoint and Bolney bar chart

Hurstpierpoint and Bolney - Rodney Jackson

Rodney Jackson was elected to represent Hurstpierpoint and Bolney with 1862 votes, winning the division from the Conservative Party.

Lindfield and High Weald bar chart

Lindfield and High Weald

Cavan Wood gained Lindfield and High Weald from the Conservative Party with 2224 votes.

Three holds

The three incumbent Liberal Democrats held their seats on West Sussex County Council.

Burgess Hill East Bar Chart

Burgess Hill East - Richard Cherry

County Councillor Richard Cherry, who has served on the County Council since 2021, was re-elected in Burgess Hill East with 1,919 votes.

Burgess Hill North Bar Chart

Burgess Hill North - Jane Davey

County Councillor Jane Davey, first elected at a by-election last year, was re-elected in Burgess Hill North with 1,603 votes.

Hassocks and Burgess Hill South Bar Chart

Hassocks and Burgess Hill South - Erika Woodhurst-Trueman

Erika Woodhurst-Trueman, first elected at the by-election last year, was re-elected as the County Councillor for Hassocks and Burgess Hill South with 3,009 votes.

Thanks are also due to Vanessa Wilson, Lee Gibbs, Stephen Barnett and Stuart Condie who stood but were sadly not elected this time.

 

Across West Sussex as a whole the results were as follows:

Liberal Democrats: 23 seats
Reform UK: 23 seats
Conservatives: 11 seats
Green Party: 7 seats
Labour Party: 5 seats
Local Alliance: 1 seat
