Erika Woodhurst-Trueman was elected to represent Hassocks & Burgess Hill South on West Sussex County Council with 1694 votes.
Mohtasem Billah and Kirsten Sutton were elected to represent Bentswood & Heath East on Haywards Heath Town Council, with 383 and 366 votes respectively.
Commenting on her election, newly-elected Councillor Jane Davey said:
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and to the staff who made this election possible.
Whether you supported me, one of the other candidates, or chose not to vote at all – I will work hard for you and stand up for Burgess Hill on the County Council.
Throughout the campaign residents have raised a diverse range of issues, from school places, to potholes, to social care. I will be getting to work straight away to make sure that the voices of Burgess Hill are heard at County Hall.”
Councillor Erika Woodhurst-Trueman added:
“Thank you to everyone who voted, whether by post or by braving the wind and rain yesterday.
For those of you who put your cross against my name: thank you for your support!
And for those for whom I wasn’t you preferred choice, I hope I can change your mind by working hard to look after you, our environment and this phenomenal community.”
Paul Lucraft, Leader of Haywards Heath Hill Town Council, welcomed the election of two new town councillors saying:
“I know that both Billah and Kirsten will be great additions to our town council. It is clear to see that they are two incredibly hard-working people who are genuinely passionate about getting the best for Bentswood.”
