Liberal Democrat Trevor Hines elected in Burgess Hill Town Council by-election

Mid Sussex Liberal Democrats are proud to welcome the election of Trevor Hines to Burgess Hill Town Council, representing Franklands ward. He joins a strong team of Liberal Democrats in Franklands, where he will work with Cllr David Eggleton and Cllr Janice Henwood.

Trevor won 503 votes, finishing ahead of Reform on 296 votes and the Conservatives on 270 votes.

 

Commenting on his election, Trevor said:

“I am honoured to be elected as a councillor for the town I love, and want to thank everyone who voted on Thursday.

Whether you voted Lib Dem or not I will always do my best to represent you and stand up for our local community on Burgess Hill Town Council.

I will fight for better infrastructure – in particular lobbying for delivery and progress with improvements to our town centre and sustainable town development, I will work hard to make sure our green spaces are protected, and I will always be on hand to help Franklands residents and support the local community groups at the heart of our town."

 

Peter Williams, Leader of Burgess Hill Town Council, welcomed Trevor’s election saying:

“Trevor will be a great addition to the Town Council. He is a hard-worker who brings a wealth of real-world experience with him. I know that he is passionate about getting the best for our Town and I look forward to working with him.”

Trevor Hines, Liberal Democrats: 503
Reform: 290
Conservatives: 272
Independent: 172
Labour: 82
Green Party: 76

1393 votes were cast in total
Turnout was 32.37%
