Liberal Democrat Caroline Ward elected in Haywards Heath Town Council by-election
The town council by-election for Haywards Heath North West was won by Liberal Democrat Caroline Ward with 131 votes, ahead of Reform on 62 and the Conservatives on 56.
The Liberal Democrat vote share was up on the 118 votes won in 2023. The total number of valid votes cast also increased from 232 votes in 2023 to 249 votes, a turnout of 40%.
Newly-elected Liberal Democrat councillor for Haywards Heath North West Caroline Ward said:
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to cast their vote either by post or by braving the rain on the day. It is an honour to be elected to represent the town I have called home for over two decades.”
Paul Lucraft, the Leader of Haywards Heath Town Council, welcomed Caroline’s election saying:
“Caroline will be an amazing addition to the Town Council. She cares deeply about our community and I know she will work hard to make our town the best it can be.
The increased majority Caroline earned is a vote of confidence both in her and in the Liberal Democrat administration on the Town Council.”
Caroline is scheduled to formally take up her place on the Town Council on Monday.
