4 Candidates for 5th June

West Sussex County Council
There are two by-elections for West Sussex County Council:
Burgess Hill North and Hassocks & Burgess Hill South.
West Sussex County Council is responsible for services like social care, education, road maintenance, public libraries and long-term strategic planning.
Jane Davey: Burgess Hill North
Jane has lived in Burgess Hill for nearly 40 years, raising two children here. In her professional life she is a Law Graduate and a Chartered Accountant.
She has 12 years’ experience as a school governor at both Primary and Secondary Schools. She is currently the Chair of Governors at The Burgess Hill Academy where she has highlighted funding issues.
Jane has worked hard alongside Alison Bennett MP and local Liberal Democrat Councillors to achieve better opportunities for our students and and helps run the Burgess Hill Youth Council.
Jane wants a fairer deal for our town. If elected she will continue working hard for our area, particularly on improving education and amenities for families.

Erika Woodhurst-Trueman: Hassocks & Burgess Hill South
Erika lives in Hassocks with her husband and two children. She has worked for many years as a civil servant in UK Visas & Immigration within the Home Office.
Erika is a firm believer in building community, supporting local businesses and taking care of our environment. She is currently working on plans to deliver some new and dynamic summer holiday activities for local young people.
She is a trustee of Hassocks Community Organisation and the event coordinator for Light Up Hassocks.
Her interests include fair weather gardening, music and cooking. You’ll often find her shopping on the high street, anywhere with a skate park with her children or enjoying some live music at ‘Proper: Cycling & Coffee’.
If elected, Erika is particularly keen to improve healthcare, social services, and education.

Haywards Heath Town Council
There are two by-elections for the Bentswood & Heath East ward.
Haywards Heath Town Council takes responsibility for provide and maintain local amenities like open spaces, allotments, and litter bins. They also respond to planning applications and allocate grants to community groups.
Mohtasem Billah: Bentswood & Heath East
Billah lives locally on Bentswood Road with his wife and two children.
He runs his own business so he knows the challenges that local businesses are facing.
Billah loves the parks and green space in our area and is pleased by Liberal Democrat investment in Victoria Park.
He will work hard on the Town Council to make sure that green spaces are both preserved and enhanced

Kirsten Sutton: Bentswood & Heath East
Kirsten is an education professional with over 25 years of experience, both as a teacher and as a researcher.
She volunteers with local schools. She is passionate about democracy, education, and sustainable development and deeply committed to making Haywards Heath a better place for everyone.
She is passionate about sustainability and will use her role on the Town Council to make sure there is proper scrutiny of developers.
